High Octane Ride is a scientifically proven exercise system comprising an intelligent software system that controls a networked specialised bike, all enclosed within a privacy pod. The rider, after logging in, simply gets on and follows the instructions on the console. The software does the rest.
A scientifically proven, high intensity training protocol has been programmed into the software. The optimum resistance that will get the max power out of the user is calculated and automatically set. So, each session is personalized. The software provides real-time performance metrics and is intelligent: it will change the resistance up or down depending on user performance. It will also abort the ride if the user’s heart rate goes above the accepted limits.
The software is lovingly known as CAROL (cardiovascular optimization logic). Amongst others, it provides a valuable metric called Octane Score (OS), which is a measure of a person’s cardiovascular fitness. The OS is a close approximation of a user’s VO2 Max - the current industry standard for measuring fitness. The fitter you get, the higher your octane score.
All performance data is captured in the cloud and accessed via smartphone or laptop. League tables allow people to compete and social networking allows sharing of achievements. While badges keep users motivated, the most important motivation comes from watching their fitness improve real-time.

High Octane is short, sharp and scientifically proven. The protocol is 9 mins and 40 seconds in total comprising two twenty second sprints and three, three minute slow sessions.
